What is EUIN?

Quick Answer

Employee Unique Identification Number — assigned to employees of an ARN holder who interact with investors.

Understanding EUIN

EUIN is a unique identifier issued to every employee or relationship manager of an ARN-holding firm who interacts with investors or advises on mutual fund investments. It was mandated by SEBI in 2012 to improve accountability in the distribution chain.

The EUIN must be quoted on all transaction forms where the investor has received advice from a specific employee. If a transaction is genuinely non-advised (investor-initiated), the EUIN column can be left blank — but the distributor must declare this.

For corporate distributors and firms with large teams, managing EUINs — including renewals, new issuances, and deactivations for departing employees — is an ongoing compliance task. AMFI maintains the EUIN registry alongside the ARN database.

“For Indian IFAs, a clear understanding of euinis essential to managing a compliant and profitable advisory practice.”
